We offer a comprehensive course to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to perform a variety of pet grooming and clipping techniques from basic to advanced styles

  • Equipment and maintenance
  • Poodles basic grooming
  • Mixed breeds clipping
  • Health and welfare
  • Understanding skin conditions
  • Flea control, shampoo and rinses
  • Carding and stripping techniques
  • Anal gland expression, dental hygiene, ear cleaning and plucking, and nail trimming
  • Techniques of scissoring, blending and the use of universal comb attachments

Kim Dean has been in the grooming industry for over 27 years. Kim first started out working in a poodle parlour in the south of England. For the next 11 years Kim operated a grooming and clipping service, as well as working at a small animal hospital in Peth as accredited groomer.

David and Kim own two successful grooming salons and a sharpening and repairs service all operating south of the river.

We specialise in creative clipping of all breeds from the pampered pooch to best in show.

In October 2002 Kim was presented with an Australian Micro Business Award - the Western Australian Winner in the Animals Category.



Kim Dean has also successfully completed the following course;

  • Study of Clipper and scissor techniques
  • The grooming and clipping of cats
  • Companion Animal Hygienist (CAH) Groomers' Certificate Program
  • Member of PIAA

We are now government approved for 'Work for the Dole' Training Credits Program.


4 Week Programme

Our 4 week programme runs Tues-Sat 8am until 4.30pm. You will work in the salon Tuesday to Saturday. The cost of the course is $6400 for the 20 days training you will receive, an illustrated manual "Notes from the Grooming Table" 2nd edition. We require a $1000 deposit to secure your place. This is one-on-one training and the course is designed to allow you to open your own business upon completion. You will use all of our grooming tools whilst on the course. We also offer a starter kit for all students at a discounted price of $1000 if you would like to buy your own at the end of the course.
