Teeth cleaning - Why is it important?

Teeth cleaning - Why is it important?

Good dental hygiene can improve a pet’s overall health. Poor oral hygiene in dogs can lead to excess tartar and swelling in the mouth. In fact, an animal’s teeth may be more important to its overall health than most pet owners realize – for example, bacteria in the mouth can spread to other parts of the body and cause infections so keeping the mouth healthy can help keep your pets body healthier. It can lead to a longer and healthier life for your pet.

Good oral hygiene can help prevent diseases or secondary infections such as liver, heart, kidney and joint disease from bacteria originating in the mouth and spreading through the body via the bloodstream.

Although your veterinarian can help in routine dental check-ups or extractions, dog owners can reduce the risk of dental hygiene issues on their regular visits at our dog grooming salon.

As part of our additional services we offer teeth de-scale (without sedation), brushing of teeth with an oral tooth gel leaving the breath smelling fresh. For puppies, we introduce teeth cleaning with a finger brush rather than a toothbrush to assist with getting them used to it.

Alternatively, if you wish to incorporate as part of your daily routine at home we do offer finger brushes and teeth cleaning products.
